When I was younger, I remember that every Saturday my dad went out to work for the entire day. His office was located just in the center of Monterrey, which are a few blocks from the bank. I remember the one morning I woke up early to watch cartoons on TV. When suddenly my father came to me and told to get ready for going out. My heart began to race as I got ready, I had never spent some time with my dad and because of his job I could only be with him every night just a couple of minutes. By that time I used to live next door to his office which both houses were connected by a courtyard. That morning my dad came and took me with him outside the office, I was so happy that I could finally have some time with him. We went to the nearest bank which was a big red establishment just a few blocks from his office. Inside it, the temperature was cold and I loved it. We sat in a desk and my father began to talk to a representative of the bank, I had no idea what they were talking about but after they had talked the person talking to my dad gave me a lollipop. Just as we were exiting the bank, there was a little establishment which served tacos every single day. My father lift me up and placed me in a very high chair where I could see how ‘Don Chuy’ made his delicious tacos. After eating lunch we headed back to my dad’s office. As we walked, because of my age my dad used to take my hand but his hand was too big for my hand and instead I grabbed his finger. I was back then the happiest kid in the world, everything was just perfect. For the first time in my life I could spend some time with my dad in other place rather than home. And when we got back my father just leaned against me to give me a kiss in the forehead and leave in his car to get done his daily tasks. Since then I patiently waited for the next Saturday to come because that’s when I could see my dad and spend some time with him. And now every time I drive near the bank I remember when I used to go with my dad in there and wish I could be a kid again in order to at least spend some time with him and have a lollipop just like the good old days.
