I used to want to dance with thee
Gentle lady of the forest
I wanted you to marry me
My delight would shine the brightest
If only you would be my wife
I used to want to kiss your lips
To feel thy touch upon my own
Brush your cheeks with my fingertips
Tenderly as the sun sets down
Cherish thee for all of my life
I used to want to dream of thee
Sweet lady dressed in gossamer
To lay you down so carefully
Surround you in the finest fur
Protected from the world of strife
I used to think a man like me
Could capture such a lady fair
And dance with thee so merrily
Without a worry or a care
If only you would be my wife

Ah, Amy, what a beautiful poem. The lady of the forest is indeed dressed in gossamer and many-a-young-romantic male would find their romantic leanings in this work. Although all I get to waltz around these days is the supermarket!
Good Work.

It is our longings and yearnings
too that really make us human in
many ways. Sometimes dreams fizzzle
out yet we hang in there; hoping,
wishing; moving towards some
reality...
"If only..."
Metaphoric and subtle in
its glaring message of
a longing heart!

Quite a nice tinge of Arthurian elements in here, Amy..i envision the sceneries of forest and mystical creatures and of cos , the male and female persona.

'I used to want to dream of thee

Indeed a poem of regal chivalry and charisma.
Any knight will be proud.
