Day is done.
At long last, the fires of the heavens are cooled
AS the sun bathes the oceans in crimson paint
Stilling the restless waters to a tranquil flow
Gleaning across the mountains in living shadow
Like the warm, black coat of a sleek, silent panther
Flowing, filling, following, all without a sound
To rest serenely on the edge of the great earth.
The celestial windows of the cosmos begin
To open wide so the universe can witness
The timeless splendor of these magnificent lands.
The tired eyes of humanity close heavily
On the faces of the children who now slumber
Peacefully in the arms of the descending dark
While sweet lullabies instill the tumbling silence
With the soothing soft voice of a loving mother.
Mankind will rest now in tender imaginings
And place their trust in the gentle hands of God.
All will surrender to the mercies of the night when
Day is done.

Wonderful poem. You had vivid images, spirituality, emotions, honesty, and a natural vibrance. Your sub-titles work very well for you. Most people wouldn't be able to use them effectively as you do with ease. It helps show off your talent. Great job, hun.
Well it seems day is not entirely done with a well braced and graced work like this. But I guess one would sleep well after writing something like this.
Blutty Good Work!

Refreshingly rapturing piece, Amy! Within the depths of this poem: "Day is done" there is an enchanting light of the spirit and healing gentleness. Just listen calmly to Amy in the following refreshing lines: "The tired eyes of humanity close heavily On the faces of the children who now slumber Peacefully in the arms of the descending dark while sweet lullabies instill the tumbling silence With the soothing soft voice of a loving mother..." These are powerfully soothing lines in their own creative right, Amy! It also brings back childhood memories. And I must confess that there is nothing more uplifting and inspiring than a mother's love!!! Then, perhaps, the hidden beauty of Amy's poetic performance lies in her effective use of the personificatory, alliterating, simile and metaphoric figures of speech full of realistic imagery of the beautifully compassionate human soul: Hear Amy again: "Mankind will rest now in tender imaginings And place their trust in the gentle hands of God All will surrender to the mercies of the night when Day is done" because, remember, Jesus lovingly told us: "come unto me all of you that are heaven ladden and I'll give you rest" Soothing, mind-blowing poem, Amy! There is something refreshing within the very heart of "Day is done". And this something - this heavenly gentle spirit - draws us more into the rest and peace of God - our Almighty creator! This should be our gleam of hope and reassuring rest: "To open wide so the universe can witness The timeless splendor of these magnificent lands..." God bless you abundantly, Amy, for letting us know why we must cherish that the "Day is done"!!! Ugonna
