A terrible tempest waged outside
While I sat between wooden walls
While the thunder echoed through dark halls.
I squinted in the light of my screen
And reveled in the pit-pat-pittering of the rain
Daring to wonder of wonders insane.
Then I looked without
Into the stormy night
To see the trees and houses all surreal
Then a quiet darkness distilled
Before a chasm ripped open the sky
And a brilliant light found the eye
Therein I think I saw, maybe,
A twisted creature standing by an oak tree-
Staring back at me.
