I'm being told to demand what I want,
state my need,
order as in manifest destiny -
dictatorship to the third degree.
Well, this I do declare to the Universe,
but on the ground, of this world,
I don't dare,
for this world is weak and lacking
of the power to meet
the needs that I declare.
To the Universe, I will demand.
I'll take up my bones and
grab the energy with my hands,
hold it tight while I whisper in its ears,
give me what I deserve, this I command.
I'm tired of taking scraps
and pieces of what I need,
it's time for me to work with me
and take what I need freely.
Toss out the things that are no longer of use,
leave that which holds me back with all the refuse.
Close the door shut on the failures of the past,
open the path to the future I've prayed for
and for which I have consistently have asked.
Only no longer do I simply ask, now I'm simply taking,
for no longer am I waiting,
I am now creating.
I'll pick and choose as I see fit,
and the worthy will prove among them
who will be "it"
the opportunities that arise will contend
for a place for me to make my ends.
From this day forth do I take my stand,
the world is mine, this I command.
whoah! nice one!

thanks :)
Thanks for the comment, SSmothie :)
Sometimes, we have to make these declarations for ourselves in order to commit to taking action on the subconscious level too. Then everything follows after that.
sure does im currently writing
Pieces that highlight how we can let life slip by instead of making and taking opportunities. I also believe there is great power in choosing ;)

sweet :)
I 100% agree. our choices are generally limitless, in my opinion, except when they involve the free will of another person. It's kind of like the conflicting ideas of predetermination and free will. In my thought, God gave us the gift of free will, which is why the world exists as it is. However, it's kind of like the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books that they had way back when - every choice we make already has a predetermined consequence of sorts and may go so far as to place us on entirely different projections/paths than we would otherwise be if we had made a different choice.
That said, one thing I should probably make clear with this poem is that I do mean to be stating that I will take what I need for myself, whatever I can get by my own hands. But this "taking of what I need" / "creating what I need" doesn't include forcing others into my captivity. But by taking ownership of everything within my grasp, I am also stating to the Universe that I will not settle for less than what I need/deserve, thereby opening myself to receive precisely that - the job/career I want, the life I want, etc.
Too often, we short-change ourselves, allow ourselves to be merely contented by that temporary fix and what's "good enough." For fear or whatever, we decide not to take the big risks we need to take in order to get the big gains, and (I've been told enough times) the place where we experience the most growth is right outside of our comfort zones. We're not patient enough to wait for the payoff of hard work and dedication.
And sometimes, at the end of such hard work and dedication, we come out with something other than we initially were aiming for. The choice to see the good in what we take and leaving behind the bad is worth its weight in gold when it comes to continuously moving forward in life.
OMGosh soul sister!
