It’s the same old human story

over & over

and we still don’t evolve

No matter how much

the Hatfields & McCoys

hate each other

No matter how bitter the feud

between the Capulets

and the Montagues may be

No matter how sharply

the lines are delineated

there will always be 

a little Hatfield boy

that gets smitten 

by a little McCoy girl

or a  young Capulet girl

will flip head over heels

for a young Montague boy.

It might even be same gender
but Romeo and Juliette

or Julian and Romanique

are finding each other

And the outraged factions and families

are stuck with a choice

and that’s simply you either

relinquish the hate

or lose your child

and losing your child

would be a devastating loss

especially since

we don’t even remember

what the fuck we’re fighting over.

But sadly, too many of us

don’t have the sense to figure that out.
