taking a stroll 

down Memory Lane

& finding a poster

of former president Ronald Reagan.

It had Reagan talking

and in the corner

was a clock

reading 5 minutes till 12.

there was a caption

that read,

“We begin bombing in 5 minutes.”

It was based on Ronnie’s faux pas

when he spoke into

a turned on mike that weren’t

supposed to be turned on.

I remember buying the poster

at a Dead show in 1986

for a mere 50¢

I thought it was

pretty amusing

It may not be much

but it’s at least 

as good a line as

“I did not break the laws of my country.”

and considerably funnier

than a lot of great lines

from dead presidents

like Lincoln and Jefferson
