They think they’re deep.
They think they’re enlightened
and they’re gonna save the world.
They posture and preach;
lay out all the rules
that everyone else should follow.
They want to save the world
through all the sacrifices
they tell everyone else to make.
But they don’t turn off
the water fountain at their own estate
during the drought
or reduce their own carbon footprint.
They charge a king’s ransom
to catch their performance.
Only the elite can afford it.
They want to help the poor
but damn sure don’t want
to be in the same room as them—
unless they’re being handed a drink.
They’re holier than thou
but somehow the rules
don’t apply to them.
They think they’re glorious and deep
but get to know them
and you’ll find
you’re wading in shallow water.
Oprah Went Door To Door
The shock faded. I wonder how many people she met are on line now reading up on the national election? Using the tools you have, has merit. Shoulder to shoulder with poor people or a $10 k contribution. A toughie. :)
I was not talking about Oprah
I was not talking about Oprah or even celebrities in general. This is really about a small percentage of liberals who are very narrow-minded and arrogant in their own way. They are right and everyone else is wrong etc. A lot of the people I was referring to are people I know in my personal and professional life. I was just trying to call out the hypocrisy of these individuals. There is a back story to why I specifically used Streisand's name but it would take too long right now. It may come out at a later date.
btw, I was very impressed with Oprah's performance this past week--if I lived in Georgia, I would be voting for Stacy Abrams all the way.

Somewhere within the adoption of words, everything gets twisted to mean something else.
We are liberal as adjective until it reaches political definitions. We support the conservation of resources. We do not label ourselves by any party.We are for liberty as well as conservation. We are against greed and the destruction of nature.

This isn't intended as an indictment of liberals or liberalism. There is a percentage of liberal people I know that have the holier than thou attitude and act like their shit don't stink. Some of them are hypocritical on many levels--they don't always practice what they preach. I attack conservatives and a lot of the traditional bigots as well. I rip on myself a lot of the time, too. I'm a very flawed human being. A good number of liberals do need the occasional reminder that they are flawed human beings, too. Thank you for reading and taking the time to provide feedback.
Not Flawed
I rip worse on my people and Democrats. I spend little time thinking about wealth, not having any to speak of. Flawed - hey if you are human, it is a birthright. No reminder needed, too busy being flawed in practice. And still the earth turns and we continue.
