Stopped at a local dive bar
for a beer and a shot
and ended up staying
to watch an old John Wayne movie
with a bunch of old drunks.
I ended up drinking
a little bit more
than originally intended.
Even the Duke drank more
than originally intended
but he had a bullet wound
in the shoulder
which is probably
a pretty legitimate excuse
to go out and tie one on.
It made me feel small
that I did my boozing
merely on a whim.
Take A Stroll Into History
Feel big as the Duke, just remembering. I used to watch every Duke movie I could find. I loved Sugar Foot and Paladin, Cheyenne, and Yancy Derringer, Maverick, Fess Parker in coon cap, The Rebel, The Law Man and, Gun Smoke. Who I miss? Those were the days of the Western, pilgrim :D
