Powdered Christ

'Praise Jesus,' is beaten into the underdeveloped

psyches of the disoriented.

Elsewhere, a collective has met God for the umpteenth time.

They pour, and cut their sin, shaving their impurities

into a fine powder.

One savors the taste of penance from his fingertip,

remarking at it's sharpness.

In a chaotic formation, the followers of this new Church

partake in their vocation,

religion disintigrating into particles,

of which they inhale sharply.

Chemical Buddhists and Liquid Druids

are one as this collective prays.

Our Father, who art our dealer,

hallowed be thy goods.

Thy noses numb, thy will be done,

through dollars as they are rolled.

Give us this day our daily fix,

and forgive us our dramatics,

as we fuck up those who narc on you.

And lead us not into heart failure,

but deliver us from emotional baggage.

For the kingdom, the powder, and the money is yours,

now and for an hour, amen.

Uhm... actually this poem is about a cocaine addiction I'm fighting. But I still appreciate the comment. You found something in it I never even noticed. Also, thanks, I know I'm talentless *wink*

~Never forgotten, just Forsaken~

couldn't agree with you more. religion: a tool created just like the common hammer, was once necessary for us to thrive, fullfilling our needs to feel understood, accepted, and righteous. now it adorns the medicine cabinet of "civilization", a broken and misused bottle who's time is up...the tragedy: noone ever reads the expiration date.

P.S.: you have no talent. happy now?

Bible School

I have never been addicted to any controlled substance, so I am outnumbered (again) but Bible verses politicized strike a chord and if it helps addicts survive then parody serves well, (I thoroughly enjoyed the parsing) but Buddhist or Taoist or Hindu, Islam, Judaism, Confucianism, and Voodoo passage demands rebuttle in modified quotes to help addicts world-wide not necessarily recover, but get through the hell when the money runs out. I learned from a doctor that withdrawal does not kill you. I'm sure the Gods do not mind their text helping people live and be well either - Lady A
