Infested

You’ve infested my mind, as rodents do in a city 

 

You’re well established in my head

 

There you are again with your constant knocking 

 

I’m wide awake

 

The determination you’ve shown to keep me like this is relentless 

 

Last night when we spoke, you said you’d give me a chance 

 

Gentle sleep 

 

Having finished the job, it left my head

 

Well, perhaps it meant no harm

 

I rolled over to my left, and was greeted by sunrise
