Intervention

In the depth of his depression,

In his darkest moment of despair,

He decides to take away his life,

As no one would ever care.

His heart starts beating faster now,

and harder than before.

but that soon would come to an end,

As he'd be lying upon the floor.

Should he let them get to him?

Should he let the others win?

But he wonders who'd be laughing,

When his life comes to an end.

He ties the rope around his neck,

And says his final prayers.

hoping that someone would come and rescue him,

Just to show that someone cares.

He closes his eyes, and holds his breath,

In his head he counts to ten.

An awkward smile flows across his face,

As he knows he let them win.

And so he jumps off of his branch,

The rope takes a sudden grasp.

All the air leaves his body,

as he gives his final gasp.

but before his final moment,

He hears a sudden snap.

The branch that he was just hanging from.

Is now sitting in his lap.

He turns around, stares at the tree,

And then he starts to cry.

For he was forced to live that day,

Though he only wished to die.

I'm "waiting" for some more poems from you - I hope you didn't stop writing. I love your surprise endings; they seem a bit on the lighter side than that of the first few stanzas. Maybe writing is therapeutic for you as well. Thanks for your work so far. - Sara
