Love's Deathly Hand

I'm not afraid to fall. I just fear how I'll land. So, right next to the edge is as close as I'll stand.
Because if I fall, I know it won't be the risk of bones breaking. My heart is on the line, and that's not a risk worth taking.
I know they say don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game, but if you've struck out before, it'll drive you insane. I've been a victim of love's deathly hand. And trust me, girl, it doesn't catch you when you land.
I jumped so blindly--not looking in front of or behind me--hoping you would be beside me when the ground was underneath my feet.
I had hoped for too much, and hoping isn't enough. I couldn't call my own bluff, and now myself I have beat.
I know they say don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game, but if you've struck out before, it'll drive you insane. I've been a victim of love's deathly hand. And trust me, girl, it doesn't catch you when you land.

Don't let any one shake your dream stars from your eyes, lest your soul Come away with them! -SS

"Well, it's love, but not as we know it."
