A "friend", who is a real
A "friend", who is a real friend, in every sense of the word, understands and knows their place when it comes to a significant other. I hear people say use the phrase "female friend", and "male friend", which is something that is nowhere near the same as "significant other". Yes, you still have friends when you have a significant other, but if they are truly friends, and your significant other is truly a "significant" other, both parties know the importance of the relationship and the "significance" of the significant other for you. They honor the boundary. If they do not, they are no friend!!!!
Simple as that!!!

I've been in that position
I've been in that position all too many times. And on both ends of the stick. You're right, either way sucks. I am sorry that you are going through it now. My heart goes out to you both... as well as the one who has your heart.
