the bridge

the bridge

  there was a boy once
    who was suffering
  from hatred by his friends
  and self doubts by himself
     'its kinda weird' he said
  while he was thinking about
    people killing themselves
by jumping of that monumental bridge
which was built for trains once
but on his everyday walk to school
 he had to walk over
            the bridge

and as the year moved on
   and his grades got worse
and more people, even his family
        left him
but he was brave and survived
        the seasons passing
   spring, summer, autumn and winter
but on his everyday walk to school
 he thought about jumping off
                 the bridge

and then new years eve came
 and the girl he loved
              left him
 proved, everybody was the same
 the boy passed out and
               lost hope
he suffered a lot
             but survived spring
and then summer came
the boy thought he had recovered
    then his father
the only person who had not left him
                     died
and he cried for an entire week
and by the end of it
   he made a decision
on the prettiest and warmest day of the year
he took his school bag, although it was summer
went on the way to school
 reached the bridge
 and at its center
 he dropped his bag
            and a letter fell out
it was from the girl who had left him
 it said she loved him
                                  and always would
 the boy tore it
        and jumped off
                  the bridge

    What a long suffering

What a long suffering person he was this boy. The poem is so oppresive and even morbid in writing, I liked the way you described the depression and loss the boy was suffering, the reader could not escape from the poem, so hypnotic was the poems quality. What a bleak end to the story also, instead of love rekindled,  he jumps from the bridge! Well written.
