From a timewarp through the sunlight
comes a spaceman flush with speed.
Stopping at the earth and watching
what does the bold bright spaceman see?
Is he proud or is he fearful
is he violent or is he calm
is he wise and is he gentle
is he here to right the wrong?
Standing in a golden glow he holds a shining sword in his hand.
Looking like a warrior tall he looks across the surface of the sky.
and there's a tear in his eye.
He can see the wars and fighting
he can see from life to death.
He can see the pain and suffering
he can see the cruel unrest.
As he looks the whole world over
he can see the lack of peace
and he sees the lack of time
making worlds apart grow weak.
He sees silent children's faces
as they rot upon their chair.
He sees fat cows in the pastures
where's the will to send them there?
Floating on the breezes he holds a silver tablet before his eyes.
Slowly there he pens his notes as he floats across the surface of the land
and his heart's in his hand.
There are young girls past their borders
who live upon the edge of life.
There are cold cops bribed with lucre
where a man can kill his wife.
He can see the wicked prosper
as they feed upon the night.
He can turn the whole world over
he can see the same sad plight.
He sees the man who makes the models
and the man who cuts the trees.
He sees men who fight for freedom
while their generals fight for greed.
He sees people burnt and lonely
waiting with their veins diseased.
He sees youth in troubled wander
taking lives upon the street.
Grabbing for his flowing robe he wipes the golden tears from his eyes.
Sailing with a broken heart he prays to the light within his mind
he knows he's lost his time.
Then in a flash of lightning speed he vanishes from the molten sky
never to say where he flys
because no one listened there.
I sometime wonder if the Creator would also wipe his eyes at seeing not that which He created, but that which we have become because of our mortality. This poem has a surreal quality about it that really moved me. Another great poem!
This one is really good, Eric. While it is a sad and disturbing poem, there are some great visuals here. Kris
Such a wellknitted tapestry of words....very wellwritten, Eric....Smilesz, i enjoyed it HEaps.... i like the middle sections best..when u describe the atrocities of this world....written so painfully true. GREat powerful piece.
I especially liked this line..... There are cold cops bribed with lucre where a man can kill his wife.
This is excellent work here! What an idea! I really love this one!
This is quite a creative dream, woven very neatly, Eric. Some of the lines incredible. I like the golden tones, and images, even though some are sad. Some good rhyme, too. Great post~!
