dear lord it is you who protects me,

it is you who keeps me as the apple of your eye,

yet no matter what i do you never ignore me,

even though i constantly ignore you,

there have been many times where i thought you would finish me,

taking me away,letting me burn,forever in pain,

yet at the first sight of trouble ,it was your name i would claim,

lord god protect me,hear me,for i am your son,

it was then,when i was under the gun,

forgetting about everything and everyone,

except lord you never forgot me,

you have my name etched in the palm of your hand,

but i allow myself to be a lost lamb,

being the good shepherd that you are,you look for me,

you call for me,you search high and low,

even though i look to hide,lord you just always know,

never letting me go too far for your grace is upon me,

lord why do i run from you,

why do i take my eyes off of you,

you never take yours off of me,

lord forgive me this i pray,

help me to be able to praise your name,

cause i no longer want to be ashamed,

then the lord answered saying,

for when you were down and couldn't go on,

and those two sets of footprints turned into one,

it was then i carried you my son,

i've never forsaken you,but you've forsaken me,

i've never run from you,but you run from me,

you turned your back on me,laughed at me,cursed and mocked me,

but i continue to look for you,for you are my sheep and i your shepherd,

i will always be here to listen,

call on me and i'll answer,

when you hear that knocking it's me.......will you let me in,

or turn your back on me,

all i ask of you is just heed my voice,and my word,

for even though you have forsaken me,

i've never forsaken you.....
