after all this rain

Folder:
Poetry

My teardrops fall incessantly;

You watch them hit the ground,

uncaring, unfaithful.

They puddle, and you smile.

splashing them, stirring them...

And your reflection wavers.

Was it ever there?

You run through them as through my mind.

You shield yourself:

a book for an umbrella

"The Joy of Knowing Yourself"

But do you?

music for a raincoat

"I Will Always Love You"

You won't.

You didn't.

So much for promises.

and dreaming for a ledge

Eyes closed,

Silent laugh,

Silent everything.

A thought comes to me:

Maybe after all this rain.....

a rainbow will find its place in my heart.

the sun will shine.

the clouds will lift.

And I will smile at the beauty then,

As you do at the pain now.
