Eye of the Storm

Folder:
Poetry

I saw a man who looked like you,

This morning at the store,

His face, it brought back memories,

Of how we were before.

Back when we laughed,

Until we cried,

We said our love,

Would never die,

I held my end,

But you lost your's,

Now my love floats,

In the eye of the storm.

I almost believed you were mine,

That our world would prevail,

But love's essence collapsed,

In the gust of the gale.

So in knowing vain,

My confidence waits,

Lacking choice to trust,

And not be saved,

I cannot let go,

So I'm left hanging on,

To the too familiar calm,

In the eye of the storm.

Tonight sleep will come and take me to wear,

I do not wish to dwell anymore,

It will me there, against my will,

In the ever present eye of the storm.
