I descend the stairs,
I don’t know where I will end up,
So many stairs,
Stretching in the distance,
Like a highway,
Twisted and abstracted,
In my mind,
I see a door,
A door open to the world,
So many possibilities,
But I pass it by,
I walk these stairs everyday,
Up and down,
Hoping to make a decision,
Suddenly, I see another door,
More possibilities,
I peer through,
Carefully I step over the threshold,
A flash of light,
I am on my way,
I climb more stairs,
But my feet feel lighter,
My burden somehow relieved,
I continue on my journey,
I meet other people,
Walking, like me,
On a seemingly endless path,
Trying to decide,
Who they are,
What to do,
And where to go,
Eventually, the stairway ends,
With one door,
No way back,
I take a deep breath,
I open the door,
And walk through,
I am back,
The journey is over,
But more are on their way.
