Poetry

Everything at once,

All in my head,

I knew this was coming,

I am filled with dread,

Songs that are sung,

Sounds that we hear,

Thoughts that we think,

What do I fear?

People are rushing,

The world is spinning,

Raindrops are falling,

Who is winning?

Things so unclear,

The sky is pitch black,

Our burdens are heavy,

Am I on the right track?

Empires so strong,

People so weak,

Fires so intense,

Treasures we seek,

Long suffering families,

The dice are rolled,

Haunted by memories,

That will never be controlled,

The sun is shining,

The birds are singing,

Waves are crashing,

And bells are ringing,

Feelings are changing,

Friends are made,

Rivers are flowing,

Laws are laid,

It’s too much to take,

My strength is lacking,

Fear is flooding,

People are packing,

There is no beginning,

Nor is there an end,

So many worries,

What message do we send?

Lives will be lost,

Lives will be saved,

Bridges torn down,

Roads will be paved,

Someone is rescued,

Another is lost,

Discoveries are made,

But at a great cost,

Anything can happen,

Miracles are seen,

The sleeping are awakened,

What does this mean?

Promise kept,

Memories shattered,

Life is something,

That has always mattered.

Rosaline

I've enjoyed reading this poem. For a young person you sure are gifted with wonderful insight!! You ask such relevant questions - it made me think and think - about the complexities, and yet, also the beauty of life. Well done!!

Kind regards
Nicolette
