I whipped my head around
to this girl ready to cuss
only to be stopped in my tracks
because sure enough there she was.
The daughter I gave to his ex-wife
because I wasn't ready to be a mom.
Realizing I'd made a mistake too late
and now my little girl was gone.
In front of me sat someone
who was dressed like a common whore,
and I felt as if I might start throwing up
or burst into tears, I couldn't take it anymore.
Then I heard Steve shouting behind me,
"I can't believe it that's my little girl."
Her face so much like mine hardened,
"You lost that privelege when you left my world."
And then her eyes cut to Christopher
his ex-wife's true child.
And she looked as if she wanted to puke,
while Christopher's expression was running wild.
The officer, an old man, looked deep into my eyes
will you give this girl and her sister a home?
I asked them what happened to their mother,
and he said she tried to kill the little one alone.
I was so shocked by this and could only nod.
I saw the burns on my child's arms and was angry.
That BITCH had tried to hurt my girl,
to kill my Chanel.... my baby!
She looked at me strangely
as if she had an idea of who I am.
And despite the fact I was cold inside
I was happy to see my daughter again.
Steven started screaming from behind me
saying they couldn't give her to me.
But I was determined not to let him ruin this
and try to be the mother I was sure I could be.
I looked deep into her face and smiled
because it so similarly mirrored mine.
though her face was hardened now,
I could tell her eyes were kind.
She agreed to go with me for now,
at least until her father got out.
But first she wanted to know why he was here
and what this was all about.
I touched her arm softly and frowned
as I saw her pain and tightening fists,
and replied as cool-ly as I could,
It's because your father is a rapist.
And from the cell next to his
came the voice of the girl who was a bother.
"Don't forget that his son is too,
or should I dare-say.... your brother."
Chanel looked utterly devastated for a second
and I could tell deep down she was horrified.
This wasn't how I pictured meeting my daughter
and was surprised I hadn't already cried.
Then she shifted her attention to me again
and I knew I was about to drop a bomb.
When she asked me "Who are you anyway?"
and I replied "I'm your.... real mom."
She widened her eyes to Steven and asked if it was true
and he told the truth.... the bastard I despise
Then she looked at me with no emotion,
no happiness or even a flicker of surprise.
It hurt that she didn't seem to care,
about the fact that IT WAS ME.
But then again I would prove my worth,
and she'd love me so they'd all see.
I paid no attention to anyone else,
and just as well they had dismissed her,
she said she would only come with me...
If I allowed her to bring her little sister.
I said of course and smiled sadly
then the child in her arms turned to face me.
I was about to ask what was her name.
When from behind someone shrieked... "KENNEDY!"
Geez!
What a head rush!
I can't believe I let myself get behind!
Bravo!!
Eagerly awaiting the next one!
