In an attic somewhere
(aren't all things forgotten usually found in attics?)
an old photograph has slid behind a pile of boxes
No matter -
Not a photo most people would
care to see anyway
It's the photo of a girl
and she stares out at the world
with eyes so sad
that others had to look away
so she was left only with herself,
and her thoughts for company.
She knew others would whisper about how "fragile" she was
and she would give them a hint of a smile,
not showing that she
knew they were right.
Little by little, she realized,
with painful certainty
that there was no going forward;
nothing good could ever come from (or come to)
someone like her.
No tears for her, please.
She knows she isn't worth them.
The only thing she wanted was to be forgotten.
So let us leave the photo where it is,
hidden and forgotten,
in the lonely dark,
where it can fade and cease to cause anyone any more tears.
This is powerful. I've felt like that girl, but I'm better at least for now.
this is almost satirical in it's nature.
"So let us leave the photo where it is,
hidden and forgotten,
in the lonely dark,
where it can fade and cease to cause anyone any more tears."
that's the part i mean, yet it is true. i have lost a friend or two, and as i go on, i cannot forget them, and i can't move on it my life. it's not the best thing to forget them, but maybe it's best...
no. i'd rather remember them in days that we could all smile together and laugh together
Second favorite! ;)
