Competitive Love

Folder:
2016

Competition for a heart, she made

her way down the hall.  Checking

doors and windows to be sure no one

gets inside.  Stuffing her hands deep

in her pockets, avoiding touch and

caresses.  Marking heel scuffs on the

floors.  Picking lint from her fingers

she lifts her hands to pray.

Competition for love keeps

the sunlight out.  Drapes of heavy damask

mask the need inside.  Drawn and

pulled with her praying hands, she

cries into the fabric.

Competition for her heart has  long

passed.  She breaks the brocade and

peeks outside.  Happy couples

coupled by their limbs.  Intertwined in

soft possession.  Gone for her now.

Gone.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Believe it or not inspired from online dating.  Too competitive and I'm not a competitive man, he says.  Then he's destined to be alone.  Love is always a competition, a series of choices, until the right one that makes you feel safe.  Meanwhile I will hide in my shrouded house.

Yes

I so agree.

its a hard thing to endure or watch. I've a person of some interest who hasn't a clue ...what to do,but start moving,

and a friend in same situation, different gender....

rejection sucks!
