Corks & Bottle Caps

When your glass is resting on your lips
Its just as good as the finger tips
Of the people you love who want you to shut up.
When the words flow fast we each relapse
And reach for corks and bottle caps
Because a word in edge ways would go a long way.

Its no use to try to talk about it
Let the words bow to the actions
The same old sound is all that we know
And it inspires that long walk home.

The silence right before the storm
Is the breath it takes for words to form
And we're all so worn out from whispers and shouts.
A tab is made to compensate
For the right time in the wrong place
While we try to stall until last call

And I could find the words to say I loved you
If you hadn't have used them all up.
But instead of taking the time to think about it
I'll just over flow my own cup
And pour your last one.
