Teach you to Learn

Just because I underachieve doesn’t mean I wasn’t trying
You have your expectations, and I have mine.
When I say I’ve done my best, believe it,
If I was at my worst, you’d stop breathing.

If a job is worth a second thought It’ll be in my dreams,
I’ll give a yawn before a damn or a sigh before a scream.

If it means the world to you, you can have it,
I’m on my way to a better life and brighter lights.
If it gets too much for you, you’ve got a back to turn.
It’ll turn you to stone and teach you to learn

Just when I’m getting so tired of living your life,
Something comes back around, and I start to rewrite.
So I’m back in the fight, your pen against my knife,
You can bite or you can bark, It’s a test of hindsight.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Don't really like the title, but if anyone has a good one in mind for it let me know. TBH I think this is one of my weaker pieces, but what else am I going to do with it
