I asked her to meet me there.

Outside the record shop,

But she was scared.

Did I really come a thousand miles for "no"?

Say its not so.



This place is strange to me,

But you're lost in your own city.

When I arrived everything was worth while,

Just for the smile



That broke my heart.

But at least we were less than a world apart.



We kept to ourselves.

Talked a lot,

But nothing else.

It was the best day of my life,

And the worst night.



When I had my arms around you,

I should never have been afraid to do,

What I waited my whole life to achieve.

But that tug on your sleeve...



Broke my heart.

And now we are a world apart.



If I could change one thing,

I would have made myself cling

To your hand and never have let go,

That second lasted longer

Than anyone could ever know.



We both know you're unhappy the way things are,

Can't you be mine? Its all you haven't tried so far.

Everyone has hurt you except me,

But i'll never be what you want, Just what you need.



And it breaks my heart,

That we'll always be a world apart.
