The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword?

I'm not sure it can be done
Anymore. Maybe I've lost
Faith, maybe I've let the world
Around me bring me down.
I once thought that words,
The right words could move
People, motivate people to
Act justly and morally for
The betterment of all. Maybe
They still can, maybe we as
A society have just lost them.
Tucked them away in an old
Wooden chest and let them
Fall to the bottom of the ocean.
Never to be seen again. I once
Truly thought the pen was mightier
Then the sword these days I'm
Not so sure that is true.

    Words can create or

Words can create or destroy, but the sword you can only wield in war. Maybe there are too many interrpretations of a law system rather than the law being for all, same goes for accountability, responsibility, morales etc.,. Enjoyed your poem very much, appreciate you raising the questions regarding old traditions v modern day living, makes the reader think this poem.

Ink Versus Steel

A pen:

A sharpened point meant to scribe,

To scratch,

To carve out our words

And leave them hanging in the air,

Ideas yet unspoken given life and breath,

Hoping to inspire greatness

To give wings to those caged,

To scathe the unjust and oppressors of free thought.

A sword:

A sharpened point meant to penetrate,

To bring death,

To carve out a bloody swathe across the field of battle,

And there to leave precious life lying, dying,

Fighting for a cause, fighting for naught,

Hoping to bring about change,

To bring order,

To bring chaos,

To fight for "What's Right".

Are they so different, really?
