He will awake on this day
to face the time he'll dred
alone without a word he'll say
nor a single tear will he allow to be shed
Pondering to himself how many
others will say their vows this day
thoughts of past he will have plenty
a secret to himself they will stay
He'll find some quiet solitude
just some space where he'll capture in mind
a thought of the past in a reflective glass
there alone, he'll drift back in time
Seems the wisdom of a fool
can bring solace to a man
make him sing to the sun and cry to the rain
embracing the moment, they say
still he won't understand
what is the masterplan?
he awaits an answer...on his wedding day
Oh my, what a stark revelation. Been there too. I think some people love with freedom, exhiliration, joy, and unlimited hope ONLY once. When all those feelings have been dashed to bits, there is only the memory of the voided dream left. Another wonderful piece.
I wish I could feel that ecstatic light-heartedness just once more before I die.
