There once was a boy who wanted to know what death was.
When he found Death and asked him what he was Death smiled not unkindly.
He then touched the boys cheek and replied.
When the boy knew full and well what was Death.
He also knew then and there he would and could never turn away.
When all was said and done the boy was gone from this dream of life.
But when tomorrow came and he awoke near pearly gates he saw a man.
He the man was of a kind face, but rugged from days in the son.
The boy walked up, proud his plan had worked.
He went straight p to the man and said " I thought I would go down."
The man replied, "No, No, child there is no down, not that the maker would ever send you there anyway, not when your so confused."
He then lead the boy through the gates.
However soon they stopped still outside but still inside the gate.
Then someone else walked up.
His face shone and he smiled kindly at the boy.
Then he told the other man, "Thank you my son of who I am well pleased. I shall speak to him from here on out."
When the boy knew this was his maker and his maker's son he quivered and fell to the ground begging for forgiveness.
"What can I do for your forgiveness?" the boy asked.
The maker replied "Death hasn't cheated but you have. When you cheated Death you also cheated Life, for they are one, when you cheat life you cheat me for I am the maker of life. You cannot cheat a king and hope to enter his kingdom. So, you shall stand here. Your curse shall also be your reward though. you shall feel love for those that enter yet envey. You shall warn those that also wished to cheat, so none may that same fate have. Child, you are a savior, but you are also a beggar. I know who Death is for I am Death. I knew you couldn't turn away, but I also know you had a reason to ask. My child Death is a gift not a curse. Death is the end of a journey, but you are already aware. So why did you cheat?" The maker asked already knowing the answer but wanting the truth.
The boy replied "When Death told me his secret I knew that this world needed me no longer. I couldn't sit and stay awake. You know Death's reply to me:'I am rest, the sleep before the new dawn, the dusk of your last day, I am a gift if you live long enough. So what am I you ask. I am only sleep."
This is beautiful stuff ...
This is beautiful stuff ... To ask you to shorten it might perhaps hamper the essence of it . Nonetheless, you could perhaps try it .. :)
