I will clearly remember that night for the rest of my life, for on the 14th of February, you couldn't ask for warmer weather,
We were lying down on my bed, I turned to her and asked if she would want to marry me in few years...as soon as I graduate college and we start living together.
...She said, "Why rush?"
...I said, "Why wait?"
At first, I merely imagined that she was too young and immature to even consider about forever committing to my side,
Then I pondered that perhaps she is just waiting for right moment in our lives when we are older to hear the priest say, "You may now kiss the bride".
...She looked me in the eyes and whispered, "I'm all yours even if there's not a ring around my finger to prove it, and I'm still the one you'll come home to every night after work even if our last names aren't the same yet"...
...I listened...
"I'm still committed to you even if there's not a piece of paper saying that I am, I know that I love you and that I'm going to spend my life with you, and I don't need expensive jewelry on my finger to know that...I know it in my heart"
...I listened...
(as tears of joy softly spilled from my eye)
"Paper burns and metal melts, but our hearts will never break, for this is true love."
At first, I simply thought that she was too afraid of being buckled down so young and tying the knot before she gets to "go out and have fun and truly live her life",
Now I know without a doubt that she is just waiting for that perfect moment to hear that blissful phrase, "You are now husband and wife".
...She kissed me on my tear-stained lips and whispered three simple words,
On Saint Valentine's romantic night, she said the most beautiful thing that her loving boyfriend has ever heard...
