The Golden Cup

Our words gently flow

To the Heavens far below

When we ask for forgiveness and never-ending love.

Our blind eyes fail to see

The difference between lies and reality,

Finding out that Satan freely flies in the skies above.

The deceivers steal our tainted souls,

The believers descend down the totem pole;

An atrocious afterlife of black and gray.

The silver turns to Gold,

Our hibernating hearts become so cold,

As we begin to lower our hollow heads and patiently pray.

And the broken clocks show us that we're almost out of time,

Quickly grab the breached bottle and pass the reverent wine,

Swallowing the lies and seeing opaque skies as we look up.

We ignore the evil evidence and pretend everything is fine,

But the taste of the truth set shivers down my feeble spine,

As I slowly took a sip from that grotesque golden cup.

Our souls fly peacefully like a dove

To the layers of Hell up above

When the Holy grapes in our gardens begin to grow.

Our silent screams no one can hear,

Living our lives full of forgery and fear,

When we realize God dwells in the depths far below.

The diamonds transform back into coal,

The unlimited lies begin to take their tragic toll,

An afterlife where our dreams derail and our souls seem so feeble and frail.

The red turns to black,

Our guardian angels stab us in the back,

As we begin to accept the fact that our prayers always fail.

And the confounded clocks tell us it's time to pull the cord,

Our toxic tears pour down our arid eyes as we pour the brainwashed blood of the Lord,

Seeing the Light shining through the cathedral window as we collapse to the frigid floor.

We ignored the lies and were put under Satan?s devious dark spell,

Signing our names on the deceiving dotted line and receiving our one way tickets straight to Hell,

Because no one answered when we nervously knocked on Heaven's heavy door.

...Heaven seemed so blissful from far away, but it looked like Hell?s twin from close up,

Committing the ultimate sin as we devour the stale bread and drain the corrupted cup...
