I hear a crow call from far away
And I know Iām in trouble.
That bird visits everytime I'm at the precipice of a mistake.
But today I decided to pretend that it was all Ok
That the warm sunshine on my skin can be enough,
and that my other half is healthy somewhere stomping around on the world's face happily,
And all my friends might spare a thought about me, and I them.
I will go out to do all the things I used too,
and think I still enjoy them
and I talk to my mom just like I was a kid.
The work I'm not doing is waiting patiently and no one is mad,
and they think too
That the danger that surrounds me is just some soft, bothersome weather
And I remember its fleeting, that trouble will leave when I allow it too
The crow stays at a distance,
I skirt around it.
Just for today, I will pretend its a blue jay

As so presents the question
As so presents the question "Which is pretend, the blue jay or the crow?"
Or is it both? Or neither?
Great writing.
