Morning Smiles (Part One)

I left a smile

On your pillow this morning

Did you feel it?

It kissed the smiles in your hair

As it tickled my nose

In the dark hours while

I held you close

Will you let me hold you again?

Tonight, tomorrow night, forevernight

Will you let me touch you again?

My hands, my fingers have such tiny nerves

Can you see the way they all smile

Upon your soft, pretty skin just like our whispers?

I took a picture

Of you this morning

Developed and filed in my mind

Which is why I was compelled

To leave you a smile on your pillow –

You, who are water of my rivers:

Me sinking into you as you flow or

Just a little boat smiling on your seas

And when you open your eyes –

Navigation is but simple by your stars.
