Emi[nent]ly

The puppeteer weaves his deception

With great eminence

And ruthless insincerity

Exposing the weakness

Of all men

The greatest flaw of our system

Was that of Double Jeopardy

And the greatest cheat of our system

Is that of Double Identity

Unforgiven, he soldiers on

With great eminence

And brutal dishonesty

Exposing his weakness

Of all sin

The greatest heist of insignificance

Was that of personal pride

And the greatest claim of insignificance

Is that you cannot hide

The puppeteer sighs with resignation

Without eminence

Or prosperity

Exposing the weakness

Of deceit

The greatest gift of humanity

Was that of perception

And the greatest relief of all

Is that it’s over

Goodbye, my eminence!

Author's Notes/Comments:

Another Brussel Sprout poem, which I originally published under my "Emily" pseudonym at creative-poems.

Wonderful!
"Goodbye, my eminence!"
Excellent expression that helps to continue with life...

One of the deepest thinking I have ever read, which I would have never understood without a bit of help. Outstanding.
