Man is so great! - Triple Rictameter
Man is
Only a reed,
Frailest thing in nature,
But Lo! - he is a thinking reed,
That can be crushed by wind or by water,
Should the whole universe be against him,
He still be will be superior
To that that crushes him,
For man knows it,
So great!
Man knows
The universe
Has the better of him,
While the universe knows nothing,
But by thought man engulfs the universe,
And thus man is both wretched and so great,
His greatness is manifest in
His awareness of it,
That he knows it l
Man knows!
Man has
Unquenchable
Longing for happiness,
But knows he can not attain it,
That is the source of man’s unhappiness
Man’s wretchedness reveals his true greatness,
It reveals his capacity
To seek the infinite
So very great
Is man.
