Books Are Friends As Last Resort

They were the only friends when I was ostracized

The friends who don't discriminate, falsely judge, shun,

ill-treat, ignore, or spread fucking false rumors about me.

Though I met a few decent acquaintances

(they didn't risk to become friends mind you)

and though there were few good times, at least a few,

a book always tells me, "I am here when you're alone.

Don't let loneliness be your friend and smile."

Author's Notes/Comments:

The companion piece to "That Guy There, The Loner" written in the "Social Issues (My Opinions)" folder to exemplify clique dynamicism and unnecessary social stratum in society and consequences to not conform.

I've experienced how it's like to be lonely, and at times, it's really sad and depressing, and that's why I write out my emotions or listen to some music to help me feel better!! =)

This is an excellent piece that you've written, and I must say that when I read this, I thought that it was very interesting, and that it's true, books can really be your friend when you're alone and lonely. That's why I'd often read a book, or even write out my emotions through poetry. It helps to get things out this way, and to not let loneliness get the best of you, or even give it a chance to beat you down when you're already down in the dumps as it is.
