Autumn's Waltz

Autumn quietly approaches as the summer season fades away.

Trees around the neighborhood sway to the song of the wind.

I see its golden sunlit leaves of red, orange, and yellow leave its home.

As they fall, the wind carries them through the air waltzing lightly with each step.

The wind and the leaves dance in unison as they flow slowly together.

Such a peaceful feeling one can feel as the two circle about round and round in the late afternoon sky.

Sitting on a lonesome bench this picturesque scene makes me think of an innocent child's lullaby playing in the background.

Everything seems so soothing as I watch the trees shed its yearly tears.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I love watching the autumn leaves dancing from the air to the floor.

I love the way you have described this. Autumn is one of my favourite parts of the year. Even the trees seem joyful.

Smile.. it is the cheapest facelift.

I loved the title of this poem and had to read it. I'm glad I did. It makes me think of how it will be when my son's old enough to play in the leaves and enjoy the colors. I can't wait until he can laugh and throw leaves around. He's only 2 months old now. So, he doesn't do much of anything yet. I hope that when he does it will be as beautiful as your poem's descriptions and emotions.
