Testing sterile grounds

Hoping it will someday quake

And swallow us whole

We're on this edge

The brink never quite caves

People in society, especially

People in society, especially those who can't seem to remove themselves from playing the victim role, have a desperately hard time accepting people who have beaten their statistical odds. It is costly and yes, meaningless...but I guess it gives them a reason to keep safe inside their "victim role"...whether it be a victim of crime or a victim of intoxication (of many kinds). This poem has a meaning for myself, as a once drug user who has had to repeatedly make fool of those with the mentality "once an addict, always an addict". ...funny thing is, it's probably not about that at all...but it sure does fit my interpretation like a glove! :-)

thanks,  i guess it's abit ambiguous, somewhat intentionally. i'm guessing you took meaning in this as a relationship. the title, i guess, is the only thing i could point to specify what's behind the meaning of this to me. then again i'm happy to let others read into it what they want.
