Escape

The little boy wanders

Across the golden sand,

Not a care in the world

With a little blue boat in his hand.

To sail away

To some foreign place,

When he has the love he needs

Staring him in the face.

He cannot see it,

Nobody can

For when that hand comes crashing down

His trust just ran and ran.

His dreams seem so far away,

The pain obliterates his soul,

So when he tries to escape his fears

He cannot see his goals.

His mother says she loves him,

His father says it too

But when they beat him every night

He doesn't believe it's true.

His grandma says it's his fault

She says he is a pain,

She says if he wasn't such a devil,

He wouldn't get hit again.

He gets told he provokes them,

They tell him he's corrupt,

He gets treated like hes dirty

He's only common muck.

He feels it's all unfair

That they beat him black and blue

He's too scared to speak out

He doesn't know what to do

He needs a way of escaping

A way of abandoning the pain

That's why he took that boat

To escape that awful cane.

He walked into the ocean

With a smile on his face

Finally there was a way

For him to leave this place.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is my favourite poem that i've written.
i can really relate to the little boy, and think that no one should have to go through abuse, whatever the kind, whatever the circumstances.
