Behind the smile, all is not well
The true pathway to the gates of hell
The darkness is just past the light
Behind the smile is eternal night
Behind the smile, there is no time
Yet living there seems to be a crime
Behind the smile might be all gloom
but living in the smile is denying your doom
Behind the smile he cries
and all the hope he has dies
His truth is behind his smile
Such a pretty mask for such an ugly person
What matters is not what
What matters is not what others see, but what we see within ourselves. People who cling to the opinions and beliefs of the outer world will never have peace or contentment. And those who judge a book by it's cover will most times be accompanying them. People make the grave error of thinking that because they can make their life simple, that people are too. Couldn't be farthur from the truth.
I like how you wrote: "Behind the smile, there is no time
Yet living there seems to be a crime"
That line is precious, and has a strong implication of a person who knows the limits and flaws in human nature, and yet, wants to believe his/her yellow brick road is actually going to take them to the 'emerald city'.
We do not see things as they are...we see them as we are.
...and he asked her, "do you write poetry? Because I feel as if I am the ink that flows from your quill."
"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "
Hmmm?
