Disarmed

Squatting beside the narrow lane

On the way to the local market

Shombhu,well versed in his trade

I wonder what stuff he's made

The faded bedsheet old and dusty

How could he be so zealous,so gutsy?

Ill-fed,scrawny,yet well-mannered

Nary a complaint never a hearty laugh

True poor simpleton he is yet so tough

His heels and soles are cracked and scaly

The winter air has not spared his skin

No!! he isn't a beggar ,he fixes plastic straps

Straps for humble Hawaiian chappals

Frayed cotton wrap keeping chill at bay

Passers by hardly look at him..go on their way

Few months back I broke my chappal's strap

Needed a new pair of V straps

Ambled upto him and told him to change them

"It'll cost fifteen"said he nonchalantly

Silently I approved--  he began his work

While paying I was shocked-he had only one arm!!

Author's Notes/Comments:

No lofty write but I tried to fumble for a few words to write on this humble person. My apologies to all esteemed poets who write on exquisite things in better verse and style.

Somehow I waver from the strict poetry style

Thank you Respected SSmoothie for your kind read.Somehow I waver from the strict poetry style. In any case I just don't care since I don't ever call myself a poet & neither am one.
