The condemned man facing the gallows
Gazing up to the sky seeing the free swallows
His soul and mind straining ...the event follows
Freedom at last ! freedom from clutches of pain, disease
Yet his mortal body wrecks with longing.. not at all at ease
The thick, coiled rope noose round his human neck
Better than lying mortally wounded in a jungle while vultures peck
Was his face distorted ? Did his eyes express fear ?
It's difficult to comprehend because I was nowhere near
Saw it all on the telly--- my body felt cold as jelly
The black-hooded hangman pulled the rope
Noosed man clutching air with the last hope
Struggle for less than a minute-- then it's all over
We have parted a soul from a human body forever

Comment on 'Hanging'
Mr. Bishu,
You have expressed your thoughts so nicely and indirectly to the concerned people not to take away the life of any human being and to abolish hanging.
When man cannot create and sustain a life on his own, what right has he got to take away the life of others? Sheer ignorance! Great write and a reminder to everyone concerned.

Thanks Mr Ben for reading
Thanks Mr Ben for reading........ But again, society needs rules to deter people from committing serious crimes. We need to evolve Mr Ben from Mr Hyde to Dr Jekyll. Thanks again Sir.

In The Deep South USA
in the "good ol boyz days" we called men hanging from trees "strange fruit". Not quite the surrealist's "Exquisit Corpse" eh? Tragic. Death is sad, murder is madness and yesterday in Michigan suburbs KKK distributed a newsletter. I hate hate.- Lady A
