jhalmuri
On a meter high cane stand
Shaped like a dumroo
Whenever I have a few minutes
I always go closer stuck like glue
He's the humble jhalmuri boy
Despite his drudgery works with joy
On his cane stand an array of shiny tins
Puffy crunchy muri, mustard oil
He puts a handful of muri
Into an aluminium can
Few drops of mustard oil
Chopped onions & some teeny fries
one or two tiny pieces of boiled potato
a heady squeeze of lemon
some chopped green chilly
and it is ready to go
Vigorous stirring constantly clanking
Into a small paper cone poured
Topped with a thin coconut slice
Mouths water - fragrance so nice
Sit on a dust strewn stone bench
The muri your craving will quench
At ten rupees a small cone
Eat some ere he goes home
Nice one!
Jhalmuri used to be my favourite in my childhood. Thank you for penning a poem on this. :)
