Living on the shady side of love,

forgetting what unselfishness

truly feels like.  I am bereft of

patience, trustfulness, kindness

hopefulness, and perseverance.

Living on the shady side of love,

I have become envious and boastful.

Living on the shady side of love,

in short, I am easily angered, and rude.

Selfish, self-seeking I am not

a very loving dude.

For, I have sought

only to please myself,

placing all else upon a shelf.

lately, I have been

indulging in all this sin.



I’m so tired of the shady side of love.

Lord, forgive my selfishness,

return to my heart, Your own sweat love.

Make me patient, and trustful.  Kindness,

hopefulness, and perseverance,

I am now bereft of

I no longer wish to be envious and boastful.

I’m so tired of the shady side of love,

I’m so tired of this crude crude

heart that so often has wrought

havoc upon my life.  Ah, the prelude

to death’s entrance into the plot

of my miserable, lifeless existence.

Where might I take my bold stance

against my own fatal sin?

I’m so tired of the shady side of love,

I’m so tired of indulging in all this sin.
