A FRESH YOUNG FACE

A fresh young face with green eyes

sits there, greeting me.

But the expression, is not

innoscence, it denies

not the pain that

he has faced daily.

Wanting to be free,

he finds his chains to be

tightly wrapped around

his heart, his life!

He is bound, bound

by vivid memories

of his troubled young life.

Author's Notes/Comments:

While going to Oklahoma State University (from which I am a drop out with plans to return), I became "active" in a local church, there.  I helped out in the Children's Ministry.  We had several kids who were in Foster Care come to our church.  This was written about one of them.
