My Smiley Mask

My Smiley Mask

I breathe in deep and let out a silent cry

We look each other in the eyes and say good-bye

The facade I wear shows a smile on the outside

But deep inside the unknown I do hide

I step through the door no one can see

To confront the real me

  • We speak of a broken heart without a word

We speak in micro catechisms that are never heard

The drip pan of my soul starts to overflow

Like the pale rider on my face I must not let it show

I reemerge from the hidden door with no expression

No one must ever know the deepness of my depression
