A Soldier's Wife

Oh Dear Lord, I humbly pray

For strength to make it through this day.

As I lay to rest my heart . . . . my soul

Can you find a way my hand to hold?

Oh Dear Lord, I come to you.

The car to take me will be here soon.

As I stand between

''What was'' and ''What will be''

''What is''

My truest reality.

For freedom's call he gave his life

Lord . . . I am proud to be a soldier's wife!

But I am not sure I can sit today

Before the ground where he will lay.

His coffin draped in red, white, and blue.

The soldier that did what he chose to do.

But therin too lays the mortal man

And the hand that wears our wedding band.

Upon the winds that mournful song

Oh Lord . . . . Please . . . .

Help me to be strong

For I AM a US Soldier's wife!

Oh how am I to make it to this night?

The car is here Lord

I have to go.

Please somehow help the world to know

That freedom comes at great sacrifice

Dear Lord Amen

A Soldier's wife

Author's Notes/Comments:

It has been quite some time since I have been among you all.  Today I am trying out some new skills I have gained since I have been away and trying to remember how I navigated the site.  I have lost contact with most of you but if anyone can tell me how to place a complete background without the lilac middle section and also if there is a way to preview work before publishing I would really appreciate your time to either drop into my Guest Book or drop me an email. When I worked here before I had no idea of graphics, music and etc.  Now I can't seem to live without using them. LOL  I just bet though that the great poets of yesteryear would have used anything at their disposal to complete their vision.  Thanks folks and I hope you enjoyed you time with me today.  Lesa aka Aspiring Angel

Another poem that brought a tear to my eye.
A lot of your poems do that.
War is such a terrible thing on the soldiers, and
the families.

i do not know how to do the music or the backgrounds or for that matter how to change the font. What i do know is that your poem made me cry. This poem is amazing. my brother was a Marine and he lost the love of his life a fellow Marine when she fell and broke her neck. i saw what he went through. i have watched many of the friends that i grew up with lose someone that they loved to the armed services, Husbands, Wives, Sisters, and Brothers.
