To Have A Dream

If there were no dreams . . . .

the heart would be silent to its calling.

If there were no dreams . . . .

the world would exist only in deep despair.

If there were no dreams . . . .

the poet's pen would become silenced.

If there were no dreams . . . .

What if there were no dreams?

Well put, Lesa.
Very well put.
I agree with you 100 percent.
We all need dreams. The world needs them.
We would not be where we are without them.

~LESA~, this is just a most efficient way to alert you that I'll be commenting & SPRINGBOARDING off of your stuff again, and to let you know that I have not forgotten you & yours.

"Poe" I'm not, nor "Rich" am I,
but I'll be famous, b'ye and b'ye !

Never mind, I found it!! Hee Hee! I have often thought about a world of men without dreams... And can hardly fathom it!... To me it is one of those things that I can't comprehend... Like...Eternity and all of the scientific mumbo jumbo of the universe!... Just can't see it! And of course I wouldn't want too! Peace and love ~~~ Dougie ~~

Like so many things we take for granted, dreams are so necessary that, as your poem says, "if there were no dreams,/the world would exist only in deep despair."

Though short, this poem brings home its message through direct statements. I would probably change the "could" to "would" in "the poet's pen could become silenced." And, what about adding "what if" before the last line?

Thank you for the dream, Lesa.
