Father Time,
Give to me another moment,
Another taste of a time long past.
A time when he promised
Me the stars, and gave them to me...
and more.
Grant me my wish to feel,
To taste that one inch of time
When he was mine.
Give back to me that night
When you were on our side
And you were all we had.
Let me see with my eyes
Just once more
The outline of his silhouette
Against the midnight sky
As we danced to music
As timeless as love itself.
Please be bitter no longer
To my sorrow ridden heart!
Hand back to me those pieces of time
That you thoughtlessly shattered,
Pieces of time that are lost to me forever!
But, a pity, it must be this way.
I cannot retrace the paths
That were traced
With his fingers.
His memory is now
Just a fragment that sits
In the back of my mind.
And the whole of my heart
Begs for him to be released,
But it will not be so.
For in that one moment,
That brief interlude
When you, Father Time,
Were my friend,
You struck a bargain:
You took away from me
That moment,
And now you alone are
All I have.
Great job! Great Poem! I guess this just goes to show you that poets sometimes think alike!
Read my version of, "Father Time."
Keep on writing!
